How can parents help
In addition to the extensive collection in our library,
teachers also have collections of AR books in their rooms.
However, many students choose to visit the public libraries for
additional resources.
Many parents want to know how they can assist with the
Accelerated Reader program.
- Find Out the Reading Zone. The classroom teacher
can give you the reading zone for your child's independent
reading. If you know the zone (example: Reading Level
1.5-2.5), you can help him/her choose books.
- Check through your children's books at home.

- Read Aloud Together. This is one of the most
important elements. Have your child read to you and you can
read to him/her. Ask questions about the story. This will
help with comprehension.

curriculum.
- Research confirms that AR children show faster growth in
reading achievement than other students.
