DRESS CODE: RIVER HALL IS A UNIFORM SCHOOL
Students at River Hall Elementary are to abide by the school’s dress code policy. The
personal appearance of the student is the primary responsibility of the parent/guardian. When
students are dressed appropriately for school, they realize it is time to work and learn. It is the
intent of the dress code to provide our students with a feeling of school pride.
Uniform Policy
The uniforms for students are as follows:
ü Polo shirts: solid colors, long or short sleeve; button down Oxford shirts: long or short
sleeve. Both types of shirts are to be any green, any blue, white, pink, red, burgundy, or
yellow.
ü All shirts MUST be tucked in and have a collar. Belts are suggested.
ü Pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, jumpers and capri pants must be navy blue (no denim) or
tan/khaki only.
ü Shorts, skirts, jumpers and skorts are to be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee.
ü Solid color sweaters or River Hall jackets may be worn in class or in the
cafeteria, but coats are to worn only outdoors.
ü A long sleeve plain white shirt (no other color) may be worn under the polo style shirt as
needed for warmth.
ü Sweaters are to follow the same color selection as the shirts (any green, any blue, white,
pink, red, burgundy or yellow. We also sell school fleece jackets with the school logo.

ü Camouflage clothing of any color is not allowed.
ü River Hall t-shirts or school related t-shirts (D.A.R.E., chorus, etc.) may be worn as determined by the administration. Special days for students to be “out of uniform” such as field trips, Field Day, etc. will be announced throughout the year.
VIOLATION OF DRESS CODE POLICY
Students who do not follow the dress code policy will be given:
ü A written warning and a call home (first offense)
ü Referral (second offense)
ü Time out (third offense)
ü Detention/suspension (fourth offense)
POLICY AT ALL TIMES
ü Due to outdoor activities, closed toe shoes shall be worn at all times. Any shoe worn
must be securely attached to the foot so that it cannot fall off. High heels, clogs, crocs
and flip-flops, and backless shoes, etc. are not allowed. Sneakers are suggested every
day for safety. If flip-flops are worn, parents will be called and a note will be sent home.
ü Apparel shall be adequate in both length and coverage.
ü Clothing must be of appropriate size to fit the child. Oversized shirts, pants and/or
jackets are not allowed. Pants should fit properly and be fastened at the waist.
ü Shirts and blouses shall be of appropriate length. The length must extend beyond the
waist level.
ü Articles of clothing or jewelry that could cause injury are prohibited. Long necklaces are
prohibited.
ü Any clothing, style or accessory of personal appearance shall not destract from the
educational process.
ü Colored hair gel, hairspray, hair glitter or glitter body gel is not permitted. Mohawks are not permitted.
